A wind turbine failure causes a forest fire in Muros

A failure in one of the wind turbines owned by the Iberdrola company in the Pedregal hills, Esteiro (province of Muros), led to a forest fire that destroyed one hectare of vegetation. The machine was operating when the flames started, and the movement of its blades contributed to spread sparks about the area, which started a fire in an area planted with pine trees.

Two brigades from the Department of the Environment, forest rangers and a helicopter rapidly extinguished the fire. The wind turbine suffered substantial damage and it is likely that it will have to be replaced.

Una avería en un aerogenerador originó un fuego forestal en Muros

Una avería en uno de los aerogeneradores que la empresa Iberdrola tiene en el monte Pedregal, en Esteiro (Muros), derivó en un incendio forestal que arrasó una hectárea de monte. En el momento en que se iniciaron las llamas, el artilugio estaba funcionando, y el movimiento de sus aspas contribuyó a esparcir chispas por la zona, que favorecieron la aparición de un foco en una zona repoblada con pinos.
